Friday night, October 24, at home, the Spartans football team enjoyed a welcome non-conference win over Evergreen at the Spartans’ Senior Night game. The 56-19 win should give the Spartans’ a much-needed boost of confidence.
The matchup was preceded by a 56-0 trouncing at the hands of O’Dea on the 10th. Then, on the 17th, the Spartans met Seattle Prep for a home game that seemed to be an equal matchup, with both teams getting on the scoreboard in the 1st quarter. In the second, both teams again scored once, but the Panthers got the extra point to enjoy a one-point lead.
Then in the third quarter the Panthers outscored the Spartans 29-7, which gave them the win, despite the fact that both teams again scored once in the final quarter.
The losses left Bainbridge at the bottom of the Metro Mountain League with a 0-3 record.
Friday night’s win gives the Spartans a 3-5 record overall. It was the Spartans’ final home game of the regular season.
Thursday night, October 30, at 7 p.m., the Spartans host Chief Sealth for a nonconference game.
